From the Twin Cities
take I-94 to
Alexandria.
Take the MN-29,
exit 103, at Glenwood/Alexandria.
Turn right at
MN-29 and head toward Alexandria.
Continue on MN-29
which merges with MN-27 and then
Broadway St.
until you have gone through downtown Alexandria
and come to the stop light at
3rd Ave W.
Turn right on 3rd
Avenue West following
MN-29.
Continue following
MN-29, turning left at the stop light on N. Nokomis St.
Turn left onto
County Road 42
the Dairy Queen is on 42 right after the turn.
Continue on County
Road 42 / Nokomis St. 2.1 miles.
Bear left at
Country Road 11.
The road is marked with a Signal Your Turn sign. This is the
Y intersection at the old Indian Mounds. This road is also called
Carlos Darling Drive.
Go 0.6 miles,
crossing the bridge between Lake Darling (on the left) and
Lake Carlos
(on the right).
Turn right at
County Road 11.
Go about 3.1 miles.
Watch for and drive by
Terrace Drive
(the old Lembke farm driveway).
The next
turn on the right is to the cabin
The small and partially hidden driveway to the cabin is marked by
Fire Number 7743.
Follow the grassy
rutted road, keeping to the left of the white fence.
Park near the shed
and old red outhouse.
Short Cut around Down Town
Going north to the cabin:
On MN-29
shortly after leaving the freeway, take a right on 30th Avenue.
This will curve
to the left and turn into Nokomis St.
Continue on
Nokomis St. passing the laundromats to County Road 42.
Leaving the cabin, going south:
Instead of
turning right at the stop light to follow MN-29, continue
straight on Nokomis St.
Follow
Nokomis St. as is turns into 30th Avenue.
At the
stop light by J. C. Penney's and Viking Plaza turn left on MN-29. |
